Nikol, I’ve made them with butter and they actually come out really good! Nice light buttery flavor, but not so much that you think, “gee these taste like butter.” You may want to cut the salt back though, if you use salted butter.

I'll have to try this. I have a tortilla press we bought in Mexico long ago and I've never used it. Now I have a reason to try.

Those indeed look delicious, and I love homemade tortillas. I just have to get over my aversion to shortening/lard. I know I eat a lot of things that contain shortening/lard, but I don't like cooking with it myself. For me it's usually all about butter.
